AP Models DFS Rhonsperber 3800mm Scale Glider (ARF)
6150 g
Description
This almost ready to fly close to scale replica captures the spirit and grandeur of the early gliding era with its dual color scheme, laminated fiberglass fuselage, high quality covered wings and flight surfaces of the DFS Rhönsperber radiates high quality and unquestionable attention to detail.
All these features combined give you a fantastic classic glider with modern performance and stable flight characteristics, character, and charm of the golden era of aviation.
The DFS Rhönsperber was designed by Hans Jacobs as a competitive single-engine plane. Compared to the previous model the Rhönbussard, this type was designed as a mid-wing aeroplane with closed tear-drop shaped cabin. The wing had a position typical of former glider construction.
There were only two prototypes then production was then transferred to the Schweyer factory where 100 aircraft went into production. The DFS Rhönsperber made several gliding records with Ludwig Hofmann in 1935 recorded a distance flight of 474km and in 1937 Paul Steinig reached a height of 6200 meters.
