Tamiya 1/24 Scale Subaru Impreza WRC'98 - Monte Carlo Plastic Model Kit

Description

Subaru introduced the 4WD sedan Legacy to the 3rd Safari WRC in 1990, then Subaru sent in the new compact Impreza instead of the Legacy into the 1000 Lakes Rally from 1993. The machine was modified many times as a world rally car as it had a wide range of modifying scope compared with the group A motor.

Subaru soon became one of the top contenders with the new vehicle. The Impreza was equipped with all new blister fenders which were extended to 177mm, a new front spoiler for cooling the radiator and the rear wing which provided the down force.

The spoilers were manufactured after extensive wind tunnel testing. The Horizontally placed, 4 cylinder turbocharged engine boasted an awesome 300 horsepower which was moved backward as far as possible, then its intercooler with an air-cooled system was placed at the front off the vehicle.

The drivers of the Subaru's were Colin Mcrae as the No1 Driver, Piero Liatti and Kenneth Eriksson as 2nd and 3rd Drivers. C.Mcrae claimed victory on 4th race in Portugal and 6th race in Tour-de-Corse. The Subaru Impreza had showed the world its WRC pedigree and dominated the sport for a considerable period of time.
