The ND2-400 is a brand new and good quality slim adjustable Neutral Density filter. It can adjust the amount of light reduction to create a better image.
The filter balances exposure of high-speed films when the brightness is too high to increase control of depth of field. It is able to adjust the neutral density from ND2 to ND400. You just need to carry one single filter instead of a lot of filters with the same capability with ND2, ND4, ND8 ND16 ND32... and ND400.
Filters are also a good way of protecting your lens from dust and scratches.
